Pikes Peak now accepting cash, credit cards for entry fees

Pikes Peak will resume accepting cash and credit cards from visitors beginning Friday, but officials urge the purchase of online tickets as a continuing safety measure because of the ongoing pandemic.

“To minimize interaction between visitors and (the) staff, a 20% discount will be available to guests who purchase tickets online in May,” according to a news release.

While Pikes Peak is open to visit, sections of the mountain — including the The Summit House, Glen Cove and all picnic areas — are closed through June 1.

Visitors are urged to follow social distancing guidelines and wear masks in populated areas such as parking lots and restrooms. Anyone who doesn’t feel well is asked visit at another time, when they’re feeling better. The North Slope Recreation Area opens for fishing Friday.

To purchase tickets online visit the Pikes Peak website and use the code “May20” to receive the discount. Gateway hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and access is dependent on weather. Call 719-385-7325 for the latest road conditions. Ticket purchase refunds are not available.
