A month after a devastating fire, Boyer’s Coffee to resume production
Boyer’s Coffee is a Denver-based coffee roaster that featured a full service coffee shop, retail store and conference room before a fire destroyed it in 2020.
Less than a month after the Boyer’s Coffee’s roasting plant and cafe in north Denver erupted in flames, the longtime coffee company is resuming production.
Local roasters from around the region have invited Boyer’s staff to use their facilities as the company works to rebuild its plant and cafe, Jordan Blakesley, a company spokeswoman, said in an email.
On Friday, Boyer’s will begin distributing coffee from its entire lineup, including Boca Java, Boulder Organic, Luna Roasters and Mash-Up. The roasted beans can be found in grocery stores and online.
Nobody was injured on March 31 when the fire demolished the company’s historic 1927 schoolhouse cafe and roastery on Washington Street, and fire officials have not determined its cause. Douglass and Jason Barrow, who bought Boyer’s in 2015, quickly pledged to rebuild.
The company had in recent years become a giant in the Colorado coffee scene, supplying retailers from mom-and-pop shops in metro Denver to megastores such as Walmart. They roasted beans for the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, and its beverages could be found while flying Frontier Airlines.
