Denver weather: Temps will climb into 80s again on Friday before Saturday cool down

Unseasonably warm weather will linger in Denver on Friday before the city cools off a bit on Saturday.

On Friday there’s a chance for isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and the high temperature is expected to top out at 83 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Skies will be mostly sunny and there’s a 20% chance for precipitation.

The chance for afternoon showers and thunderstorms increases to 50% on Saturday as Denver’s weather cools off with an expected high temperature of 70 degrees, the weather service said.

Fire conditions on Friday and Saturday will be a concern over widespread areas of southern Colorado including stretches of the I-25 corridor from Trinidad north to Colorado Springs.

The San Luis Valley is under a red flag warning for fire danger from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, according to the weather service. Hot and dry conditions combined with gusty winds will be the primary source of potential fire threats, the weather service said.

Severe storms are expected to strike in southeastern Colorado during the late afternoon on Saturday.

On Sunday in Denver, skies will be mostly sunny and the high temperature will be 81 degrees.
